Overwatch 2 - Rio PVE

For Overwatch 2, I was given the opportunity to lead the environment efforts for Overwatch’s story missions. The first set of missions were Rio, Toronto and Gothenburg.

I joined the team the last year of production for story missions. All were around the 60-70% complete mark, requiring some layout rework with design, re set-dressing, some additional props, new modular kit parts and coordination of optimization/bug fixing efforts across the board for release.

For this room on the Null Sector ship, I reworked the layout for the left side. Adding raised platforms, new cover pillars and ramps. Modeled the central cover element and all new player height cover elements to the right. The ceiling I rebuilt a portion adding in new railings and cabling to support the animated NPC’s that moved along the ceiling rails.

The Rio model kits, textures, materials and most of the mission layout were built by Thiago Klafe, Philip Klevestav, Helder Pinto, Travis Castillo, Dion Rogers, Phil Wang. Lindsay Johnson + Steven Rich for props.
